Artists United for Haiti was an exhibition conducted by the Lody Project to help the Disaster Relief efforts of Haite. Artists around the world united and helped by donating an unframed work on paper, all artwork was sold at $25 that went go directly to to Mercy Corps and designated to the immediate relief of the Haitian people.

A friend from Canada sent me the info and of course I was happy to help so I looked within my portfolio, found a piece I liked, printed it, painted over it and sent it. The exhibition was on February 5th, in the Lody Project Gallery, Raleigh NC. They sold tons of works and collected $10,310! Pretty cool right. Just a way how artists can come together and do something great with their talents.

First exhibition of the year for a good cause, love it!

The Sketchbook project is a collaboration between over 2,000 artists from around the country that were sent Moleskine sketchbook. Their task was to fill the book with "everyone we know". Every book the project received back will be on display. Visitors are encouraged to pick up the books and freely browse through them and at the end of the year all the sketchbooks will be put in their sketchbook library so if you are in Atlanta GA you can go to Art House and snoop around the library.

I received my sketchbook in August and filled it up with more than 40 sketches... If you want to see more you'll have to go to any of the exhibitions around the states, meanwhile take a glimpse!

I had no idea what he was talking about until I saw them, it was pretty funny and flattering at the same time how your stuff can end up anywhere in the world without you even knowing.


The thing is that Casa Azul is making these wallets out of recycled magazines and for this one they used some of my illustrations featured in Folk Magazine... The funny thing was that they cut my illustrations and pasted them in another piece of paper creating a new layout... oh well, do I like them? not really but it's kind of flattering. =)

Months ago I collaborated with Juan Pablo Dardon and designed a header for his blog "Fe de Rata", oh well, the header is up and it looks awesome. A bit different from what you've seen before but it's still me, goofy characters and simple colors. Enjoy!

The Ceremony was held last Wednesday, December 9th in Guatemala and I couldn't be there so my sween mother went to pick up the award for me. Thanks mom!




The art is now property of Myrna Mack Corporation and will be used for promotional material. As right now they made a 2010 calendar and Agenda with some of the posters.

One of my latest projects was a t-shirt design for Frog, a nonprofit organization based in Washington D.C. and an affiliate of the National Peace Corps Association that provides assistance in the form of small grants and resources to support community driven projects that volunteers are involved in Guyana.


My contact at frog was Scott Stadum, he was really nice and really clear about what he wanted. It actually took us a while to start the project, first he was away and then I was away but as soon as we started it everything went along fine. what they wanted was something that represented Guyana so we put some important buildings, monuments and animals found in Guyana along with a tiny map of the country at the center.

This design will be used for shirts, mugs and other fundraising items in the future.

There's tons of ways to help your comunity and helping through design is one of them, if you are interested in volunteering this way you can find great opportunities at Designism Connects, it's fun and you learn a lot about other organizations, countries and people.

]]> 2009-09-15T10:11:30-04:00 AROUND THE WORLD IN 50 DOODLES urn:uuid:e750cbca-a89c-f733-1dc6-4dcfde34f3c7 Tijmen in the Mail Me Art exhibition in London this past April and since then we've become great friends. He's also an illustrator, robots are his thing and he's pretty good at that. "Around the World in 50 Doodles " is a project started by Tijmen, it's about a sketch book that of course will go around the world, arriving into the hands of great illustrators jus to be drawn and then send again and again until the last page is filled and then it will go back to his owner.


The first page is a drawing by Tijmen himself and after leaving Spain, it arrived at my doorstep so this was my collaboration.



Now the book is on it's way to Canada to the hands of another internet pal I met through another exhibition I had of course in Canada. Follow the blog and see where's the book next.

]]> 2009-08-12T10:55:30-04:00 HACIA AFUERA EXHIBITION urn:uuid:13f86096-b796-9beb-a202-e1cc6d5fd69a Hacia Afuera is a public art festival in East Harlem-El Barrio. In recent years gentrification has become a reality for many of El Barrio's residents and thus Hacia Afuera is to be used as a vehicle to reclaim the public space be it a garden, a sidewalk, or walls in celebration of its cultural diversity.



The good news about this is that Chinitas and I sent a proposal for the exhibition and were chosen among various artists to participate in this show. This will be the first exhibition we'll do in collaboration and are pretty excited. So, save the date and prepare for an art weekend, August 22 and 23. Check out the site! Our names are there.
