SKETCHBOOK PROJECT EXHIBITION

Happy to anounce my first exhibition in 2010... the cool thing is that this project is going around the United States for a series of exhibitions. As their motto is "It's like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks" and mine is one of them.

The Sketchbook project is a collaboration between over 2,000 artists from around the country that were sent Moleskine sketchbook. Their task was to fill the book with "everyone we know". Every book the project received back will be on display. Visitors are encouraged to pick up the books and freely browse through them and at the end of the year all the sketchbooks will be put in their sketchbook library so if you are in Atlanta GA you can go to Art House and snoop around the library.

I received my sketchbook in August and filled it up with more than 40 sketches... If you want to see more you'll have to go to any of the exhibitions around the states, meanwhile take a glimpse!

Go here for a list of galleries around United States where my sketchbook and tons of others will be displayed... you can also check out my profile in Art House website to see a couple more of the sketches in this book.

If you are around any of the 8 locations where the sketchbooks will tour don't forget to go check them out and for all of you that live in NY I cordially invite you to the openning in Brooklyn where I'll be present.

SAVE THE DATE:

March 13, 2010 (7:00pm - 10:00pm)
3rd Ward 195 Morgan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237.

Put it up in your calendar!

CYANOMAS BACTERIA FESTIVAL

Even though I don't live in Guatemala doesn't mean I try to help in whatever I can and now that one of our nicests lakes is dying I had to contribute somehow so I collaborated with Cyanomas Bacteria Festival, which is a festival in honor of the lake. It's all about art, there will be exhibitions, workshops, music and tons of other fun stuff around the lake and at the end, all the funds will go directly to try to save the lake. So, I made the logo, a poster and a banner for the festival.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 328px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_RtjWbd63Yc4/S1dQBXmuFyI/AAAAAAAABdY/Zbkdc6uUzQQ/s400/bara_cyanomaslogo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428895860264933154" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 286px; height: 400px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RtjWbd63Yc4/S1dQBFgaykI/AAAAAAAABdQ/rhoLYyzZwVw/s400/bara_cyanomas.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428895855406664258" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RtjWbd63Yc4/S1dQA-HL8lI/AAAAAAAABdI/4LV2afTThoU/s400/bara_cyanomas2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428895853421785682" />the idea of the logo was to put kind of a bacteria which is killing the lake and everything is green because this it the color the lake is turning into because of it.

It actually took us a while to start the project, first he was away and then I was away but as soon as we started it everything went along fine. what they wanted was something that represented Guyana so we put some important buildings, monuments and animals found in Guyana along with a tiny map of the country at the center.

This design will be used for shirts, mugs and other fundraising items in the future.

There's tons of ways to help your comunity and helping through design is one of them, if you are interested in volunteering this way you can find great opportunities at Designism Connects, it's fun and you learn a lot about other organizations, countries and people.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 376px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_RtjWbd63Yc4/SvxLbsvf7YI/AAAAAAAABRk/9m_bGJgjDhI/s400/Picture+3.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5403276592176688514" />

Also go to Frog website and learn more about them and while you're there check out the article Scott wrote about the project.

Thank you Scott!
